Marcus Hook Honors Police Officer and Long-Time Resident, and Appoints Full-Time Police Officer
At the regular monthly Borough Council meeting on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 Mayor Taylor and Borough Council honored two individuals and appointed a new full-time police officer in the Borough of Marcus Hook.
Officer Chris Reynolds was recognized for his courage and bravery during a life-threatening vehicle accident in the Borough in September, 2020. In the early morning hours of September 14, 2020 Officer Reynolds helped pull an incapacitated driver from a burning vehicle that became fully engulfed in flames immediately after the driver was removed. Mayor Gene Taylor presented Officer Reynolds with the "Life Saving Award" of the National Awards Program of the American Police Hall of Fame. Officer Reynolds' quick-thinking, selflessness, and bravery helped save another person's life.
Long-time Borough resident, Patricia Lakin was presented with a Certificate of Recognition from the Borough for her exemplary service to the Borough, and dedicated tenure of 45 years as Librarian of Marcus Hook Elementary School. Mrs. Lakin has been an active resident of the Borough of Marcus Hook for over 60 years. She served on the Borough’s Recreation and Park Board for 19 years, the Library Board, as well as the Borough’s Town Watch program. Mrs. Lakin served as the Librarian at Marcus Hook Elementary for 45 years from 1968 to 2013; among other roles at the school including Instructional Assistant, Lunch Assistant, Library Aide and Recess Aide.
James Dalrymple was sworn-in as a full-time Police Officer for the Borough of Marcus Hook at Wednesday's Council meeting. James completed Civil Service testing and was one of the top three candidates on an eligibility list presented to Borough Council from the Civil Service Commission. James has worked for the Borough in a part-time role for the past seven years and resides in West Chester, PA.
