The MSMP Pier Master Plan Study Public Meeting #2

Market Square Memorial Park Delaware River Pier Removal and Reconstruction Master Plan

Work is progressing on the Market Square Memorial Park Pier Master Plan.  A second public meeting has been scheduled for June 1, 2023, 6:30 PM, at the Marcus Hook Borough Administrative Services Building located at 1111 Market Street.

The project consultants, Urban Engineers, will present their findings and recommendations as they bring forward the particulars of their draft report.  The purpose of this study is to perform an analysis of the feasibility, physically and economically, to replace the existing pier to enhance the riverfront orientation of this resource.

What should be done with the existing structurally unsound pier at Market Square Memorial Park?  This is the question raised by Borough Council.  It was determined that a Master Plan for a new river pier is necessary in order to guide the future development of this resource.  A regional view along with a look at the immediate area will focus on the projected use of a river pier to establish what is possible at this location.  The Plan is to serve as a guide for pier removal and construction permitting, construction, orderly and planned development, use, operations and management.  This project requires the expertise of a team of professionals, including engineers, planners, designers with experience in pier design and operations, enterprise facility planning, and riverfront revitalization.

Marcus Hook Borough has secured federal and state grant funds to offset the cost of the Pier Master Plan.
