SUMMER CONCERT SERIES BEGINS THIRTY-EIGHTH YEAR IN MARCUS HOOK

 

The Marcus Hook Summer Concert Series will celebrate its thirty-eighth year when the 7-concert series begins on Tuesday evening July 2, 2024.  Each year music lovers come out to sit back and relax, and enjoy the music that takes place along the banks of the scenic Delaware River at Marcus Hook’s beautiful Market Square Memorial Park.  Concerts follow on consecutive Tuesday evenings at the park located at Market Street and Delaware Avenue. Marcus Hook Borough Council presents this year’s Series with the generous support from the following sponsors: The Jacono Family, Alan McIlvain Company, Monroe Energy, Energy Transfer, and PECO. All programs begin at 7:00 PM. The Marcus Hook Recreation Board has also scheduled Food Trucks to join us at each concert.  

 

The lineup of talent includes all types of music.  This year’s schedule starts on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 with 90 Proof.  They are a Philadelphia based band featuring Top 40 hits from the 70's to current, ranging from rock to pop and country.  The band features multiple vocalists which provide a wide variety for the audience but also great harmonies.  We will be joined by the Willie on Wheels, and Kona Ice trucks.

 

South Philly String Band is back on Tuesday July 9th.  The South Philadelphia String Band is an award winning Philadelphia Mummers String Band established in 1946. Performing in the annual Philadelphia Mummers Parade each January 1st, the band has become renowned for their top-notch productions. Joining us will be the Rollin’ Phatties BBQ Smokeshack Food Truck and the Kona Ice Truck.

 

On Tuesday July 16th we have The Open Road.  The Open Road is a Philadelphia/South Jersey based band that plays, hillbilly bop, rockabilly, classic country. We will be joined by the Willie on Wheels, and Kona Ice trucks.

 

York Street Hustle is next up on July 23rd. They are the Northeast’s only authentic 1960s soul and Motown band. With 10 musicians, their repertoire spans over a decade of some of the greatest music ever written including Detroit, Memphis and Chicago soul. The York Street Hustle performs classic soul the way it was intended: with grit, sweat and attention to detail. In a few short years the York Street Hustle has gone from filling tiny South Street bars to repeated sell outs of World Cafe Live. The York Street Hustle is the Northeast’s premier 10-piece 1960s soul tribute! We will be joined by The Boss with the Sauce and J&M Water Ice trucks.

 

Double Shot brings the fun on  July 30hDouble Shot is a class rock n roll band playing great tunes from the 60’s, 70’s and beyond. Joining us will be the Willie on Wheels, and the Kona Ice trucks.

 

                    

On August 6th is a crowd favorite; the Fabulous Greaseband, which is a seven member “Best of 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Party Band”.  Their highly entertaining and energetic delivery of the greatest dance songs ever written has kept the group on top for the last 48 years!  Also on hand will be the Marcus Hook Police Department for National Night Out, which is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. We will be joined by The Boss with the Sauce, Rollin’ Phatties BBQ Smokeshack, and J&M Water Ice trucks.

 

Closing the series on August 13th is Quaker City String Band.  Quaker City String Band has entertained the people of Cuba, Mexico, England, France, Italy, and is known for being a top prize winner in the annual Philadelphia New Year’s Day Parade and has played at both the Marcus Hook Summer Concert Series as well as our annual Memorial Day Parade! Joining us will be the Willie on Wheels, and Kona Ice trucks.

PLEASE NOTE: No alcohol or pets are permitted in the park. In case of rain the concert will be postponed until the following evening. August 20 and August 21, 2024 have also been set aside as possible rain dates.  The food trucks are subject to change due to availability.
