Arbor Day in Marcus Hook - April 29, 2022
On Friday, April 29, 2022 the Borough of Marcus Hook hosted Arbor Day, a day in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees! Started in Nebraska in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, the Borough has celebrated Arbor Day for over three decades and has been recognized as a Tree City USA member for the past 37 years. On Friday, the Borough gathered on the grounds of the Marcus Hook Community Center and planted a Hawthorne tree. We were joined by the Marcus Hook Elementary School 4th Grade class who sang "What a Wonderful World" and learned a little bit about Arbor Day and just how important trees are.
Thank you to all who attended the Arbor Day Program in the Borough! The Borough would like to offer a special thank you to the following individuals from the Marcus Hook Elementary School for helping to make the event a success: Principal Susan Gavigan, Jon Smerecky, Elizabeth Salamone, Ashley Myers, Caitlin Woods, Joan Berner, Marcus Bazemore, and Tyree Brabham.
