SUMMER CONCERT SERIES BEGINS THIRTY-SEVENTH YEAR IN MARCUS HOOK

The Marcus Hook Summer Concert Series will celebrate its thirty-seventh year when the 7-concert series begins on Tuesday evening June 27, 2023.  Each year music lovers come out to sit back and relax, and enjoy the music that takes place along the banks of the scenic Delaware River at Marcus Hook’s beautiful Market Square Memorial Park.  Concerts follow on consecutive Tuesday evenings at the park located at Market Street and Delaware Avenue. Please note, there will be no concert the week of July 3rd, 2023. Marcus Hook Borough Council presents this year’s Series with the generous support from the following sponsors: Energy Transfer, The Jacono Family, Alan McIlvain Company, Monroe Energy, PECO and Prologis. All programs begin at 7:00 PM. The Marcus Hook Recreation Board has also scheduled Food Trucks to join us at the concerts.

The lineup of talent includes all types of music.  This year’s schedule starts on Tuesday, June 27th with the The Discoteks.  Tribute to the 70’s! The Discoteks are a crowd favorite power house dance / show band performing all the hits of the 70's disco and Motown. The band members have over 35 years of experience in performing with various groups. They have traveled the East coast but also perform all over the country. They bring a heart pounding dance performance that brings a high energy crowd pleasing show the whole night. Tone's Spot BBQ Food Truck will be on site on the 27th.

Reunion Band is back by popular demand on July 11th! Reunion Band’s music appeals to all ages, with songs from The Beatles, Van Morrison, the soulful R & B of both Motown & Memphis, and Funk with covers from The Commodore’s, Tyrone Davis, The Temptations to Wild Cherry. Also featured are tunes from the 80’s and 90’s and beyond featuring Black Crowes, Steve Winwood and The Heavies plus a wide range of dance tunes. Anchored by a tight rhythm section, driving horns, and topped off with powerful vocals, REUNION delivers Good Times and Great Music!  We will be joined by Rollin Phatties BBQ Smokeshack Food Truck.

On July 18th Slim and the Perkolators bring a sound that incorporates classic Chicago style house rocking blues, west coast jump/swing rock and roll and roots music that both engages and entertains audiences everywhere.  Formed 5 years ago by veteran Pennsylvanian Blues Hall of Fame guitar player, Tim “the Percolator” Parks and young Harmonica ace Derek “Harmonica Slim” Matteson. They were inducted into the Pennsylvania Blues Hall of Fame in 2019. In 2020 the band reached the semifinals of the IBC’s in Memphis. Their debut self-title CD was nominated for a Blues Blast Magazine award in 2020. East Coast Mini Donuts Food Truck will join us on site.

York Street Hustle is next up on July 25th. They are the Northeast’s only authentic 1960s soul and Motown band. With 10 musicians, their repertoire spans over a decade of some of the greatest music ever written including Detroit, Memphis and Chicago soul. They cover legends like the Temptations, Aretha Franklin and the Four Tops as well as lesser-known artists including Donny Hathaway, Arthur Conley and Betty Everett. The York Street Hustle performs classic soul the way it was intended: with grit, sweat and attention to detail. In a few short years the York Street Hustle has gone from filling tiny South Street bars to repeated sell outs of World Cafe Live. The York Street Hustle is the Northeast’s premier 10-piece 1960s soul tribute! Joining us will be The Boss with the Sauce Food Truck.
