Marcus Hook Community Development Corporation Donates
Defibrillator to Marcus Hook Borough
At the Council meeting on April 3, 2023 the Marcus Hook Community Development Corporation (MHCDC) presented to Marcus Hook Borough an automated external defibrillator (AED) which is housed in a metal box in the lobby of the Borough’s Administrative Services Office Building. Bruce Dorbian, representing the MHCDC, presented the defibrillator to Mayor Gene Taylor and Council President Josephine Laird.
Defibrillators are devices that send an electric pulse or shock to the heart to restore a normal heartbeat. They are used to prevent or correct an arrhythmia, an uneven heartbeat that is too slow or too fast. If the heart suddenly stops, defibrillators can also help it beat again.
The MHCDC had previously donated defibrillators to the Police Department that are located at the police station and in the patrol cars. Like many towns across the country, Marcus Hook equips their police cars with automated external defibrillator (AED) units.
