Mickey Vernon Park

  • Origin of Name - Named for Marcus Hook born and raised baseball star James Barton “Mickey” Vernon. Designated Mickey Vernon Park by Borough Resolution No. R-03-10, dated September 20, 2003. Formerly Memorial Field.
  • Location - Market Street & 7th Street
  • Acreage - 4.4 acres
  • Facilities - Play equipment areas - 2-5 year old area and 6-12 year old area - play equipment installed in 2000; lighted ballfields (2) - lights first installed in 1981 / upgraded in 2017; park service building with restrooms, inside and outside storage rooms, concession room and pavilion - building constructed in 1998; parking lot. Mickey Vernon statue dedicated on September 20, 2003.

Robert E. Haebel Plaza

  • Origin of Name - Named for Marcus Hook born and raised 3-star Marine Corps General Robert E. Haebel. Designated Robert E. Haebel Plaza by Borough Resolution No. R-87-9, dated May 23, 1987. Formerly Plaza Park.
  • Location - Plaza Circle at 10th Street
  • Acreage - 0.5 acres
  • Facilities - Landscaped passive park, benches, war memorial (dedicated to residents of the 4th Ward who served in World 
    War II and the Korean Conflict).

Williamson Field

  • Origin of Name - Named for Charles L. Williamson, President of Marcus Hook Recreation Board in the early 1950's.
  • Location - Foot of McClenachan Terrace
  • Acreage - 2.4 acres
  • Facilities - Play equipment area - play equipment installed in 2000; youth ballfield; pavilion - installed in 2000; park service building with storage and concession room - building constructed in 1998; parking lots (2); basketball court.

Market Square Memorial Park

  • Origin of Name - Named for the historic “Market Square” and for the Vietnam War Monument which was located in the center of the 0.7 acre parcel previously known as McClure Park.  Named Market Square Memorial Park by Borough Council on June 3, 1985.
  • Location - Delaware Avenue at Market Street
  • Acreage - 5.9 acres
  • Facilities - Pavilion; platform stage; riverfront promenade; pier; walkways; picnic tables and benches; parking area (20 spaces) - built in 1986 and 1987; parking area (68 spaces) - built in 2003. 
  • Marcus Hook Community Center - Building and 1.7 acre property deeded to the Borough of Marcus Hook from the federal government on October 2, 2000.  Building fully renovated in 2004 and dedicated as the Marcus Hook Community Center on October 23, 2004.

Market Green

  • Origin of Name - Named for Market Street.  Market Green is situated between the north and south bound lanes of Market Street.
  • Location - Market Street (between 4th Street & 2nd Street
  • Acreage - 0.4 acres
  • Facilities - Tree lined grass median. Re-landscaped in 2016 (17 Bur Oak trees planted on March 29, 2016).

Centennial Park 

  • Origin of Name - Constructed in 1992 by Sunoco in honor of the Borough’s 100th year anniversary as an incorporated municipality.
  • Location - 10th Street and Green Street, southwest corner
  • Acreage - 0.5 acres
  • Facilities - Landscaped passive park; 20-car parking lot; benches.
